We know very little about this man. He may have been Eric Anderton. He joined the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and was given the service number 3859888. On the 15th March 1940 Eric was transferred to the Manchester Regiment and served with them through the rest of the Second World War. He received the France and Germany Star which suggests he served in the 1st Battalion or the 7th Battalion of the Regiment.

Eric held the rank of Sergeant by the end of the war and on the 17th May 1946 he was transferred to the Class X(T) Reserve. The (T) means he was 'liable to recall', this suggests he was not wounded or sick when he left the Army.

Eric's post war life remains a mystery.
